Tokyo Olympics: COVID-19 hit Simon Geschke out of the Olympic cycling race

The German Olympic Committee said that German cyclist Simon Geschke tested positive for the coronavirus and was excluded from the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday. The other 12 members of the German cycling team stayed in the same hotel as Geschke, but all tested negative.

The Tour de France champion Tadej Pogakar from Slovenia became the most popular race in the 234-kilometer race, which included five climbs of 3,776 m (12,388 feet) around Mount Fuji, the highest point in Japan.

 So shortly before the race, Geschke, the former champion of the Tour de France on Friday, said. As far as I know, I abide by all hygiene rules. I feel good physically, but emotionally today is a very difficult day for me .

 Pogacar headlines a star-studded peloton that includes 2016 Olympic champion Greg Van Avermaet and his Belgian team-mates Remco Evenepoel and Wout van Aert.
